Paintings by William James Woolf

My landscapes, seascapes, and village scenes are painted outdoors, on site, plein air. My figurative work is a person or a model posing for me while I paint them. However, some of my larger figurative works involve using studies, and very rarely a photograph may be part of the process, in addition to studies. Still lifes are usually set up in a corner of my studio. Many times at the end of the still life painting session, the object painted, if a fruit or a vegetable, becomes part of my next meal...a object of beauty and tasty as well, or whithered and molded so much it must be thrown away.

In Sardinia, you can buy my paintings and/or prints at:

Visos-Visi-Faces Exhibition
My most recent solo exhibition Visos/Visi/Faces (The word "Faces" in the Sardinian, Italian and English languages) consisted of drawings, watercolors, and digital video displayed at the Centro Polivalente Anziani in Santu Lussurgiu.

For the last 7 months of 2007 I was going to the senior center in Santu Lussurgiu interviewing and filming oral histories of seniors interested in sharing stories about their life and documenting life there with drawings, watercolors, and photographs. I have grown close this wonderful group of individuals and am pleased they have responded in kind. This exhibition was the first public showing of the work.

I have split my paintings and drawings into the four groups seen below.
