Wandering Sardinia, this little known Italy
Most of this beautiful island is unknown and unspoiled in its natural beauty with few tourists, except during the Italian vacation month of August, but even then they are mostly on the sea and do discover this wonderful island. I live in an even less touristic part of Sardinia, on a mountain, in a small village built in the crater of an extinct volcano, living as a painter, documentary videographer, and photographer of landscapes and seascapes. My recent work reflects on the life, people, and landscape of Sardinia, and on occasion Italy and other parts of the world.

Floating on the Edge of Europe
As a painter, documentary videographer, and photographer, there is something about the physicality about Sardinia, that calls to me, beckoning me to explore its beauty, its unique blend of arid vistas, mountains, and rocky coasts that seem precariously balanced between the sea and the sky. This island here in the middle of the Western Mediterranean seems to floats on the edge of Italy, Europe, and the world. It is part of something larger, but still keeping a separate identity.
Here in Sardinia much is lying just below the surface, unseen, hidden. It fosters my curiosity. My interest is in the expression of this hidden structure, these barely visible traces of the many thousands of years of interaction between humans, the land, and the sea here in Sardinia, that manifests itself in color and form on the surface my paintings.
